- Role and function: The AAIB is responsible for the investigation of civil aviation accidents and incidents in India. It is responsible for determining the cause of accidents and incidents, and making recommendations to prevent future accidents.
- All Accidents and Serious Incidents involving aircraft with AUW more than 2250 Kgs are investigated by AAIB
- It was established to comply with the Standards And Recommended Practices (SARPs) of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
